Some Of The Photographers - October 2009

THE EXHIBITION

In the "Vanishing Florida" Exhibition, Photo Salon Photographers explore the textures, colors, humor, symbols, and more from the vanishing Florida we love, and hope they serve to remind you of the beauty that brought us here, and keeps us here.

Members of Photo Salon realized over time that many of their photographs captured the beauty, the charm, the people, places and things they’ve found most interesting in South Florida, and that many of these things were quickly disappearing. So the idea for "Vanishing Florida" was born.

The exhibition is a tribute to the eroding beaches and failing seawalls, vintage buildings and architecture, endangered wildlife, small towns, and the natives who have long called this state home.
THE SCHEDULE

Vanishing Florida opens at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach on Friday night, October 9, 2009. There will be an opening reception to which the public is invited. The exhibit will remain there for viewing through October 28, 2009.

The Armory Art Center show will be a juried show. The photographs will be selected by Charles Stainback, the William and Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida. Previously, he was the Dayton Director of the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery and Professor of Liberal Studies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.

The show will then travel to Northern Trust Bank in North Palm Beach, where it will be on display during the month of November. See Exhibition Schedule for information on other dates and locations.
